Filter Facts

Activated carbon filters

An activated carbon filter only has a limited lifespan or period of functionality when used in an exhaust hood operated in recirculation mode. Inside the filter cartridge, there is porous, fine-grained carbon with a large internal surface area which is used, among other things, in ventilation and air conditioning technologies. After a long period of use, the pores in the activated carbon close more and more due to the constant filtering of cooking vapours, such that the performance of the filter degrades and the filter has to be replaced.

You should take care that your activated carbon filter is replaced after no more than 120 hours of operation or 6 months. If your hood has a filter saturation indicator, you will be prompted via a visual signal to replace the activated carbon filter after 120 hours of operation. In case of extremely heavy use of your hood, it may be necessary to replace the filter sooner!

  • Be sure to read the instructions for installation and use enclosed with your hood carefully!
  • Please be sure only to use our “Original Airforce Activated Carbon Filters”!

Long-life filters -Activated carbon

Carbon filters with activated carbon in a nylon cover can be washed once a year. Cleaning can be carried out using a dish washer. To dry, please place the filter on a heat source or inside an 80-100°C fan-assisted oven. The filter must be replaced after 2 years.

Note

The incorrect use or replacement of the activated carbon filter may cause damage your hood, which can lead to the breach of your warranty.

Please do not wash!

Carbon filters with anthracite/black plastic housings much not be washed. Afterwards, they are unusable. Only carbon filters with the activated carbon in a nylon cover can be washed after 1 years. After 2 years they must be replaced.

In our range, the following carbon filters can be washed once:

Metal Grease Filters

Your hood’s metal grease filter serves to filter out as much grease from the cooking vapours as possible.

Please clean this metal filter at least every 40 operating hours, or at least every 3 months, by hand with warm water and a mild cleaning agent. It can also be cleaned in the dish washer at a low temperature in the quick cycle. The metal filter may change colour when cleaned in a dish washer, though this does not negatively impact any performance characteristics of the filter in any way! If your hood has a filter saturation indicator, you will be prompted by a visual signal to clean the filter after 40 hours of operation. In case of extremely heavy use of your hood, it may be necessary to clean the filter significantly sooner!

  •  Be sure to read the instructions for installation and use enclosed with your hood carefully!
  • Please be sure only to use our “Original Airforce Activated Carbon Filters”!

We reserve the right to make changes to the product at any time!

The incorrect use or replacement of the metal grease filter may cause damage your hood which can lead to the breach of your warranty.

You only need to replace the metal grease filter if it becomes damaged. You can order new grease filters from the Airforce filter shop at www.airforce-filtershop.de

Important note:

If you have a so-called diagonal (headless) hood, you will have to clean the metal grease filter significantly sooner. In case of extremely heavy use, this may be as often as every 2 weeks (or sooner). Otherwise, it is possible that liquid grease and condensation may leak from the lower edge (due to physics), which can lead to soiling of the wall and work surface!Your Filter Shop Team
